Emile-Allain Seguy (French. 1877-1951)

This design from a collection of Prismes: 40 Planches de Designs et Coloris Nouveaux with Art Deco designs.  Seguy worked in Pochoir which is a stencil printing process with each colour using a separate stencil.  A very time consuming and exacting process that was only used commercially for around ten years.  It was too expensive to be used for large scale printing projects.  It is still used today in fine arts applications.

The designs contain abstract, geometric, and semi-abstract motifs many of which are of natural subjects.  Brilliant colour and bold motifs characterize Seguy’s work.

This set was published in Paris by Editions d’Art Charles Moreau in the second half of the 1920’s.
